Energy Conservation Contraption
Learning Target (LT): I can design, build and operate a system (contraption) which starts as potential energy, transforms into kinetic energy, and then into thermal energy, then back to potential energy
Students will have 30 minutes to use materials supplied in class to accomplish the task specified in the learning target. Prior to the building session two YouTube segments were shown to demonstrate Rube Goldberg-style systems. Students were instructed to video their system on their phones. The notebook entry expectations are given in the rubric.

1. small plastic interlocking cubes
2. 1" square wooden tiles
3. variety of rubber bands
4. paint stir sticks
5. mouse traps
6. pulleys
7. string
8. plastic 3/4 round
9. plastic bull nose
10. duct tape
11. string
12. plastic golf balls
13. golf balls
14. rubber baseballs
15. bungee cord
16. various wooden blocks
17. various segments made from laminate flooring
18. wooden ramps
19. dowel and PVC sections
20. hinges
